Step 1: Apply to East Carolina University
- Apply to ECU For those intending to major in music, within the ECU application select: “Music Education, BM” or “Music, BM” (for Music Performance, Theory/Composition, or Therapy).
- Prospective students are not required to apply to ECU before their audition, but it is preferred. To be a music major or minor requires admission to both ECU and the School of Music.
- HONORS COLLEGE: For consideration into ECU’s Honors College, students must submit their ECU application by mid-October. Learn more HERE.
- TRANSFERS: Because the requirements Bachelor of Music degrees are complex, transfer students should contact the School of Music as early as possible during their college-level studies.
- INTERNATIONAL: International Students apply through the Office of Global Affairs.
Step 2: Apply to the ECU School of Music
- Apply to the SoM The completed SoM application and audition are required to be a music major and potentially be eligible for scholarship consideration. Within the application you will select:
- Your music program
- Instrument or voice type
- Audition date
Step 3: Complete Your Audition
Audition day is a multi-faceted, all day event designed for us to get to know you and you to get to know us! Plan on arriving by 9 a.m. for morning events will that include information sessions, one-on-one meetings, a music theory placement, and your afternoon audition. We highly recommend a face-to-face audition but recorded auditions will be accepted if it is impossible for the applicant to attend an audition day. Or contact us to arrange a weekday audition. Weekday auditions can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
Visit our links on the left to learn about Audition Repertoire for each instrument/voice, what to expect on the audition day, scholarships, and more.
