Facilities
The ECU School of Music includes a suite of acoustically designed percussion studios including:
5 practice rooms for keyboard percussion and timpani
2 practice rooms for drum set and Latin percussion
1 chamber/multi percussion rehearsal room
1 percussion repair and storage office
1 faculty teaching studio
The Percussion Ensemble and Percussion Players ensembles rehearse in the acoustically designed large ensemble rehearsal room, which includes extensive storage space for conventional percussion equipment and for the steel pan ensemble instruments.
The jazz/chamber rehearsal room offers rehearsal space for the ECU Jazz Ensemble A and B, combos and chamber music ensembles and includes storage space for a complete collection of drum set, vibes and Latin percussion equipment, accessible only to those students participating in the jazz program. Currently the ECU School of Music includes the following instruments among its percussion holdings:
1 – Adams 5.0 Octave Marimba
2 – 4.5 Octave Marimbas
5 – 4.3 Octave Marimbas
2 – 4 Octave Marimbas
4 Xylophones
3 Vibraphones
4 Glockenspiels
4 complete sets of timpani (Adams, Ludwig and American Drum Co.)
5 drum sets and MUCH more.
This collection of equipment and acoustically designed teaching and practice rooms puts those at ECU at the top of those available in North Carolina and the surrounding states.
