How to Join a Choral Ensemble

General Information
All students at ECU are invited to join an ECU choral ensemble.
All students who sing in a choral ensemble at ECU must sing a placement audition for the choral faculty. (Use the link at the bottom of the page to sign-up.)
Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers must sign up in one of the Chamber Singers audition slots.
Audition Instructions
**Take five minutes and read ALL the instructions below, so that you know how best to proceed.**
Audition Process for All Singers:
- Vocalize briefly
- Sing a prepared vocal solo (bring music with you). If you are not a music major, you may choose to sing “My Country ‘tis of Thee,” and the music will be provided
- Sight read
- *Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers will have additional prepared excerpts and instructions. (see below)
Everyone:
- Sign up for the earliest slot for which you are available!!
- Arrive to your audition 10 minutes early.
Chamber Singers’ Auditions
Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers must prepare additional excerpts and complete a more difficult sight-reading passage. Instructions and excerpts will be posted on this site, Friday, July 1. Also, make sure to sign-up in a Chamber Singers audition slot.
Additional Chamber Singers Instructions
Audition Results & First Rehearsals
Chamber Singers callbacks for SA sections will be posted/emailed late Sunday evening and will occur at 1:00 on Monday, August 17. Chamber Singers callbacks for TB sections will be posted/emailed late Monday evening and will occur at 1:00 on Tuesday, August 18.
All final choir rosters will be posted by midnight, Tuesday, August 18.
Chamber Singers, University Chorale, and Concert Choir will meet Wednesday, August 19 for the first rehearsal.
Collegiate Choir will meet Thursday, August 20 for the first rehearsal.
You MUST be registered for the correct section of choir by 5:00, Thursday, August 20.
