General Information

All students at ECU are invited to join an ECU choral ensemble.

All students who sing in a choral ensemble at ECU need to sing an audition for the choral faculty.

Excerpts for the Chamber Singers’ audition will be available on-line beginning Friday, August 2.

Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers must sign up in one of the Chamber Singers audition slots.

 

Audition Instructions

**TAKE FIVE MINUTES AND READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW SO YOU KNOW BEST HOW TO PROCEED.**

Audition Process for All Singers:

  1. Sign up for an audition time (see link at bottom of page)
  2. Vocalize briefly
  3. Sing a prepared vocal solo (bring music with you). If you are not a music major, you may choose to sing “My Country ‘tis of Thee” (music will be provided).
  4. Sightread
  5. *Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers will have additional prepared excerpts and instructions. (see below)

Everyone:

  • Sign up for the earliest slot for which you are available!!
  • Arrive to your audition 10 minutes early.

 

Instructions for Chamber Singers Auditions

Students auditioning for the Chamber Singers must prepare additional excerpts and complete a more difficult sight reading passage. Also, make sure to sign-up in a Chamber Singers audition slot.

Audition Results & First Rehearsals

  • Chamber Singers callbacks for SA will be posted/emailed late Monday evening and will occur at 1:00 on Tuesday, August 20.
  • Chamber Singers callbacks for TB will be posted/emailed late Tuesday evening and will occur at 1:00 on Wednesday, August 21.
  • All final choir rosters will be posted by 3:00, Thursday, August 22.
  • You MUST be registered for the correct section of choir by midnight, Thursday, August 22.
  • Chamber Singers and Collegiate Choir will meet Thursday, August 22 for the first rehearsal.
  • University Chorale and Concert Choir will meet Friday, August 23 for the first rehearsal.
