Jeffrey J. Bair


Jeff Bair, MM in jazz studies and DMA in saxophone performance University of North Texas

Dr. Bair is an experienced performer in both the classical and jazz idioms. He has toured the US and internationally with the Collection Jazz Orchestra and Dallas Jazz Orchestra as well as performing locally with the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra and North Carolina Symphony. As lead alto saxophonist with the NCJRO, his collaborations include artists such as Marcus Roberts, Branford Marsalis, and John Pizzarelli. His work with the NCS illustrates his diversity as evidenced by performances of standard orchestral repertoire such as Prokofiev’s Lt. Kije, Ravel’s Bolero and Pictures at an Exhibition, but also providing solo work with artists as varied as Rosemary Clooney and Elvis Costello.

His students have been admitted to prestigious graduate schools such as University of Indiana, University of North Texas, University of Northern Colorado and Michigan State University and have gone on to successful performing careers and teaching in public schools and universities across the country.

Dr. Bair is a former faculty member at the University of Texas at Arlington and Blue Lake Fine Arts Jazz Program and Summer Band Camp.
