Pianist Eric Stellrecht joined the faculty of the East Carolina University School of Music in 2003, serving as the primary collaborative pianist in the Department of Vocal Studies. Since then, he has overseen the musical preparation of many operatic productions, including The Magic Flute, Così fan tutte, The Consul, The Medium, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lizzie Borden, and Madama Butterfly. In addition, Stellrecht has been a member of the artist faculty at the New York State Summer School of the Arts since 2007. For over a decade prior to that, he was a collaborative pianist at Interlochen Arts Camp.

Stellrecht is in frequent demand as a professional accompanist, and has collaborated with outstanding young artists at the Kingsville International Young Performers’ Competition and the Orpheus National Voice Competition, among others. He has participated in masterclasses for many musical luminaries, including pianists Martin Katz, Kevin Murphy, John Keene, and John Wustman; sopranos Faye Robinson, Heidi Grant Murphy, and Julianne Baird; clarinetists Sidney Forrest and Mitchell Lurie; John de Lancie, oboe; and Eric Kim, cello.

A native of Wisconsin, Stellrecht began piano study at the age of ten. He earned degrees in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin, Superior and the University of Michigan, and took additional advanced studies at the University of Arizona.
