Amy Carr-Richardson

Ph.D. (Theory), Florida State University; M.M. (Composition), Florida State University; B.M. (Guitar Performance), University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. Dr. Carr-Richardson has published articles related to music theory pedagogy and the analysis of Beethoven’s late string quartets. She has presented papers at meetings of the Society for Music Theory, American Beethoven Society, College Music Society, conferences on musical borrowing, and various regional music theory and musicological societies, including Music Theory Southeast. Her primary research interests include the study of Beethoven’s late music, musical borrowing, and the study of time in music. Dr. Carr-Richardson has been awarded a research grant by ECU and has received the UNC Board of Governors Distinguished Professor for Teaching Award. She has served as secretary of Music Theory Southeast and as a reader of AP music theory exams for the College Board.
