WAVEFIELD ENSEMBLE [January 23, 2020]
The Wavefield Ensemble is a collectively organized group of musicians dedicated to performing music and creating new artistic work at the highest level, and to actively engaging in educational activities geared toward inspiring the next generation of artists and performers. Begun as a project of the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (Troy, NY) in 2016, Wavefield Ensemble joined the new music scene in 2018 with performances and residencies at MANA Contemporary (Jersey City), the Park Avenue Armory, National Sawdust (Brooklyn, NY), Collar Works and AreteĢ galleries, and in educational projects at Troy’s EMPAC and New York’s Carnegie Hall. Described as “A great sounding group with a knack for dynamic programming” (I Care If you Listen), Wavefield seeks to nd common threads between the sounds we have inherited and the newest sounds of today’s voices working to enrich our collective musical legacies. In 2019, Wavefield begins its project of commissioning new work for large ensemble.
