Andrew Berinson

Andrew Berinson is a pianist born and based in Raleigh, NC.

Andrew leads his own trio, THRIO, with bassist Paul Creel and drummer Donovan Cheatham. Their newest recording, “Thrio Volume 1,” was released in September 2022. In April 2019 Andrew released his debut album as a leader, “Of Love.” Andrew is the musical accompanist behind the award winning podcast Great Grief with multi-Grammy nominated vocalist Nnenna Freelon. In 2018, Andrew won the Yamaha Award at the American Jazz Pianist Competition in Melbourne, FL.

Andrew has performed as a featured sideman with John Brown, Nnenna Freelon, Al Strong, and Brian Miller. He has performed at the Ocean City Jazz Festival, Duck Jazz Festival, and Savannah Jazz Festival. He has shared the stage with Mary Stallings, Joe Chambers, the Durham Symphony, Wallace Roney, Stephen Riley, Nicholas Payton, Herlin Riley, Tia Fuller, Wycliffe Gordon, Willie Murillo, Derrick Gardner, and Warren Wolf. Andrew studied Jazz Piano Performance at North Carolina Central University with Dr. Ira Wiggins and resident artists Joey Calderazzo and Branford Marsalis.
