Practical Vocal Pedagogy Workshop – AUGUST 7 & 8, 2026

PVP Advanced Workshop – AUGUST 10 & 11, 2026

The ECU Practical Vocal Pedagogy Summer Workshop is an on-site workshop for the voice teacher or choral conductor with interest in gaining practical information and applicable skills that directly relate to working with singers.

Whether in a classroom, a choral rehearsal space, or a one-on-one studio environment, this workshop offers concrete information grounded in voice science and presented through PRACTICAL tools, techniques, and demonstrations that can be integrated into any vocal environment.

  • Gain a more complete understanding of the instrument
  • Expand diagnostic skills (for the ensemble and one-on-one environment)
  • Explore tools for addressing intonation, vowel modification, resonance, registration, breath and body connection

The cost for participants in the Practical Vocal Pedagogy Workshop (August 7-8) is $50.

The ECU PVP Advanced Workshop is an on-site workshop open to a small number of participants who have already attended the original workshop and who wish to further expand their pedagogical skillset with one-on-one vocal and pedagogical instruction and hands-on practical application learning.  Eligible participants must have completed the original workshop in a previous year.

The cost for participants in the Advanced PVP Workshop (August 10-11) is $100.

Spots for participants in both workshops will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits are available for both workshops.

You are not at the mercy of the ‘talent’ level of the singers in front of you.

Build responsible singers with reliable skills they can own, grow, and use to communicate authentically.

“Breaking down the information was amazing. All the detail was so impactful.”

“The visuals that were presented have been great!”

“I really enjoyed having a refresher of information about vocal pedagogy. I also love the different ways to teach a certain thing, and being able to use that in teaching.”

“Loved the realness.”

“I really enjoyed the master class so that we could see live feedback and workshopping.”

“I think one of the most rewarding points made during this event was that the process will always lead us to the product no matter how long we have been pursuing our craft. Also, workshopping cross-voiced scenarios to address the variants or unique approaches to diagnosing different vocal issues or functions … Informative, Encouraging, and overall a sense of purpose from this so thank you so very much.”

“I found it very helpful to review so many different things and watching master classes.”

“As a young musician with a new degree, getting to listen and appreciate folks with a high level of passion and education on the subject matter deepens my own curiosity and interest in it.”

“Great experience for someone starting their own studio!”
