Theresa Hoover
Theresa Hoover is a teaching instructor of music education at East Carolina University. Before joining ECU, Ms. Hoover was a graduate teaching assistant at Arizona State University. Prior to teaching at the collegiate level, she taught instrumental, general, and vocal music in both public and private schools in Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia. Her research interests focus on informal professional development for music teachers and the creation of learner-centered environments in music classrooms.
As a dedicated advocate for music teachers, Ms. Hoover is a recognized presenter and clinician at local, regional, and national conferences, including recent presentations at the Midwest Clinic and NAfME Biennial Research and Teacher Education Conference. She is the co-author of Pass the Baton: Empowering All Music Students and co-hosts its companion podcast. Ms. Hoover also serves as an adjunct professor at VanderCook College of Music, where she instructs graduate courses for music teachers on technology integration and student ownership. Ms. Hoover earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Penn State University and a Master of Music from West Chester University. She is currently a PhD candidate in music, learning and teaching at Arizona State University.
